I am a 53-year old male who has been in a 22-year profession that requires me to be an independent contractor, thereby having to qualify and pay for my own "individual" insurance policy. For the last 15 years, I have been a Type II diabetic. Until about seven years ago, I was insured with Blue Sheild in my state.

insured person denied extended care after disabling stroke

My ex-husband Wayne, a 50 years old director of a company with (supposedly) excellent insurance benefits had a stroke at the end of November 07. The stroke has left him paralized on one side and unable to speak, it is very likely that he will need extended rehabilitation and 24 care at his home until he recovers (if he recovers).
