55 year old dropped after developing serious neurologic condition

Heathcare Status: Employer Insured

Name changed on patient to protect identity. He is my brother. June 2006. brought to hospital suffering from dizzyness. dx with low sodium or hyponitremia. given iv infusion too fast. now has cpm and unable to move, toilet etc. He needs 24 hr complete nursing care. His mental functions are normal so he knows what is happening. Prior to this accident he was a normal hard working man.

Apathetic Politicians deciding who gets Medical Care?

Heathcare Status: Uninsured

After being put in disability and having no income for the "waiting period", I lost my insurance from lack of ability to pay. It took another 2 years before Medicare kicked in, so I had nothing. With disability I made "too much money" to qualify for any state or federal programs, although my income was not enough to pay for my medical needs out of pocket.
